Without their time, effort, reliability and passion for making a difference we wouldn't be able to offer the care and support we do to families across north east Essex who face incurable illness and bereavement.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life and we welcome applicants from all backgrounds, with all skillsets!

Volunteering is an extremely rewarding experience. Many people find volunteering is a great way to acquire a wide range of skills, learn within new environments, meet new people, as well as sharing knowledge and experiences with others.
There are many reasons why people choose to volunteer with St Helena, but here are a few examples:
Do I need skills and experience?
For a large number of our volunteering roles you do not require any specific skills or experience, simply a friendly, positive attitude, enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved. There are a wide variety of volunteering positions on offer throughout our charity to suit your availability and skills.
How much time do I have to give?
Whatever time you can offer! Whether you have as little as one to two hours a week or month or are available as frequently as most days, we are sure to find a volunteering role to suit your lifestyle.
What age do I have to be to apply?
We accept volunteer applications from anyone aged 16+ for retail or fundraising roles, however for any other volunteering role you must be aged 18 or over.

How do I know which role is for me?
Some people like to help out in a role in their area of expertise and apply for a volunteer role within the background of their profession, while others prefer to do something completely new and different. The choice is yours and if you would like more information on the volunteer roles we have available our volunteer services team would be delighted to have a chat! They can look at all the available roles and options available to help you find the perfect volunteer position to suit your skills and personality.

When you make a donation to St Helena Hospice, we are charged transactional fees by other companies, including fees for processing payments made to us, looking up addresses and validating bank account details.
We are very grateful to our donors who offer to offset some of these fees with a minor addition to their total amount. This is however completely optional and we are very grateful for your support whether or not you choose to contribute to processing fees.
